[스타뉴스 길혜성 기자] CL, the leader of a girl group 2NE1 (CL, DARA, BOM, MINZY), will make a debut in the U.S. as a soloist next spring.
According to what music industry insiders said to Starnews on Oct. 16, CL is going to release a single in the U.S. next spring, making an official debut there.
At the moment, CL has already finished the songwriting work for the songs to be released in the U.S. In the U.S., singers usually release their full-length album after the promotion for their singles. And CL is also going to follow this common practice.
What is more noteworthy in CL’s plan to make a debut in the U.S., the world’s largest pop music market, is the fact that Scooter Braun, the manager of PSY, will be her manager in the U.S.
Scooter Braun is a manager of Justin Bieber, a global pop star, and of Ariana Grande, one of the most popular female singers these days. He played a great role in helping PSY build a presence in the U.S. Since he is often cited as one of the most influential men in the U.S. pop market, there is already much anticipation about CL’s debut in the U.S.
Scooter Braun reportedly paid attention to the aspects of CL as a competent rapper and outstanding fashion leader. He decided to become her manager after meeting her at the introduction of PSY.
CL is also very proficient in foreign languages, especially in English. So she doesn’t have any language barrier. This is another reason why the anticipation is so high about her debut in the U.S.
CL has prepared for her debut in the U.S. for quite a long time. Actually, she visited the country several times this year to make arrangements for next spring.
Many eyes are now on how CL’s debut in the U.S. will turn out.
